Wedding and kids have changed the kind of actress she wants to be, the actress said.

Perizad Zorabian: In a different league

We can easily call actress Perizad Zorabian a multi-faceted actress. Having been trained in ballet for over 12 years, the chirpy actress is known to have strong roots in theatre as well. After making her presence felt in Bollywood with Nagesh Kukunoor’s Bollywood Calling, Perizad has many offbeat movies to her credit.

The actress, along with the cast and crew of the play Dinner With Friends, will be in the city for a performance this evening. Giving us an insight about the play, she says, “It is a fantastic adaptation about four friends, the bond that they share and the different emotions each one of them go through. The audience can see a bit of themselves in this play. Though the play is emotional and hard hitting, it has a funny take on life.”

Perizad plays the role of Maya, a friend of Diya (played by Tisca Chopra) who leads a rather structured life.

“When Feroze gave me the script, I found Diya’s character more appealing and stronger than Maya’s. I almost rejected the offer... however, Feroze convinced me that I fit in Maya’s role perfectly. It was a challenge for me to make the character lively,” says Perizad.

This play serves more or less like a comeback for her says Perizad. She says, “It’s been nearly four-and-a-half years that I have been away from the screen. This is a kind of an attempt to get back to acting and I am glad to be part of a strong play like this.”

The few years of sabbatical Perizad took changed her as a person, she says.

“Earlier I had perceptions about playing the lead roles and the like. But now, I’ve matured and evolved as an actor. In fact, I am tired of playing the bubbly and happy roles and would want to play more stronger and challenging characters.”

Supporting the noble cause of growth of theatre, BookMyShow and JANAM (street theatre) have joined hands for the first time with this play. It will be staged in Chowdiah Memorial Hall in Malleshwaram this evening at 7.30pm.
