Percept Picture threatens to sue filmmaker Anees Bazmee

A film production company Percept Picture Company has hurled a legal notice to filmmaker Anees Bazmee for defaulting on paying back a refund of Rs 51 lakh that was paid to him for a film that was never made.

“Percept Pictures is following up with Aneez Bazmee for four years for the advance paid for a film Jeb Hamari Maal Tumhara. He was paid Rs 51 lakhs for the film which he never returned. Percept Pictures has served a legal notice (a copy of which is with After Hrs) to which there’s been no response from Aneez Bazmee.

Percept Pictures has now appointed an arbitrator and has sent notice to Aneez Bazmee. The matter will be soon in the court,” says a source.

Anees, on the other hand, admitted that he had received the money, but claimed that he had fulfilled the conditions mentioned in his contract. “I had written the script and worked very hard on the film. Getting the actors is not my duty and the producers couldn’t get the actors. That is the reason why the film got stalled. They are creating undue pressure on me,” said Anees.

A court case is likely to be filed next week.
