Papa Kamal Haasan takes charge

If actor Sarika’s efforts failed to pay off for daughter Shruti Haasan, dad Kamal has taken over the reins of his daughter’s career. DNA has learnt that Kamal is now engineering Shruti’s second launch in  Bollywood after Shruti’s debut debacle, Luck.

Interestingly, Shruti had indicated before that her relationship with mom Sarika has soured because of her closeness to her dad. “My mother doesn’t like my friendship with Gauthami Madam (Kamal Haasan’s present wife and  a former actress). She’s angry and avoids speaking to me,” she had said earlier.

Sources say that when Shruti was living with Sarika along with her sister, her mom engineered her debut in Bollywood opposite Imran Khan. “When Sarika used to come to Mumbai along with her daughters, she stayed at Imran’s place. They had grown close over the years, and so, she made sure that Shruti made her Bollywood debut opposite Imran. But Luck failed miserably at the box office. This further soured the relationship between the mother and daughter,” says a source.

It was left to Kamal  to step into the picture. The south superstar then figured it out with Ghajini director AR Murugadoss. Sources say that when Murugadoss on his own brought up Shruti’s name for a film to be co-produced with Kamal, the actor was thrilled. He whole-heartedly supported the idea of Murugadoss working with his daughter.

“Kamal had a few meetings with Murugadoss about a multilingual film called Ezham Arivu. The Tamil film is a medical thriller that will  also be made in Telugu and Hindi. Murugadoss plans to re-shoot the dialogues the same way Mani Ratnam did for Raavan,” adds the source.

Murugadoss has, apparently,  admitted that the film is also a re-launch for Shruti in Bollywood, with the  Tamil version starring South superstar Suriya. According to AR Murugadoss, Ezhaam Arivu based on extra-sensory perception, with the hero  being able to see the future.
