Oops, Ishq Bector does it again

There is perhaps an uncanny connection between Ishq Bector and controversies. As if meeting the censor board’s wrath wasn’t enough, the hip hopper singer’s title track from the album Sali Bitch has invited much fury from colleagues and other celebrities.
Poke him on how affected he is by all this frenzy when asked by close friends to withdraw the album. “Arey woh to mummy bhi bolti hain...but I think I am too stupid to be affected by any of these criticisms,” he laughs.

Close buddy Soha Ali Khan has not been too reticent about her disapproval, and has actually asked Ishq to withdraw the album from the market as well as to take off its video from the internet. Singer, actor Anusha Dandekar reacts, “It’s disgusting. The video shows him urinating on a girl. My goodness, how degrading that is for a woman! How did you come up with such a song in the first case? This is too uncool for me!”

Television actor Shweta Salve too slams the song, calling it “derogatory”. “Sorry Ishq, I cannot even mention the name of the song, it’s derogatory to women and something which I cannot even talk about, forget about lending support to your efforts!”
It’s rather surprising to see Bector maintaining his ultra cool despite the uproar. “It’s hilarious. I have to keep on making my music and I only make music for my friends. And since I can’t please everybody, some of them are bound to get upset,” says Ishq.

Even this song ('Sali bitch'), says Ishq, is his tribute to his close friend’s ex-girlfriend. “It just happened while I was hanging out with my group of friends and this guy was complaining how his girlfriend played a bitch,” he adds.

Bector has worked with international artists like Sean Paul and Chamillionaire. And in his stint with Bollywood, he churned out tracks like 'Karle Gunah' (Ugly Aur Pagli), 'You got me Rockin and Reeling' (Billu Barber), among others.

His other track called 'Happy Singh' too is under fire as most music channels have refused to show the video of it citing reasons of sensitive content. So where Ishq changed 'Sali Bitch' to 'Sali Mirch' to suit radio audiences, he is also editing 'Happy Singh'.
