Omi Vaidya to turn director

Funny man actor Omi Vaidya, who rose to fame after his role in Aamir Khan starrer 3 Idiots, will soon don the director’s hat. Buzz is that the actor, who has a background in filmmaking courses, has finally decided to take charge himself.

A source reveals, “Omi had gone to New York University for a filmmaking course. So he knows the basics of the field. And he has decided now to use whatever he learnt there by directing his first film.”

The actor is on a personal high after bagging roles in multi starrer films like Desi Boys and Players. The actor was so excited that he had even tweeted, “Dubbing soon for my 2 movie releases this year. Playerz & Desi Boyz. Can’t wait to see how the films have turned out. Will let u know.”

The source adds that Omi’s decision of getting into direction was influenced by his friends. “Omi’s friends have made a documentary on him called Big In Bollywood. The documentary is about the 27-year-old American-born Omi, a struggling actor in LA, who miraculously lands a dream role in this Bollywood film. Four of his friends got together and directed the film,” the source shares. But the source insists that Omi’s film won’t be a typical Bollywood masala flick, it will be different.

Big In Bollywood has already scooped up some awards at some international film festivals. Omi tweeted, “Free Goa Screening of my film “Big in Bollywood” THIS Tuesday 29/11, 5pm at Marquinez Palace in Panji. Limited seating, get there early!”
