Now that’s a super combination

There couldn’t be bigger news for Kannada film fans this year.

Actor-directors Upendra and Prem will be seen teaming up together this year for Munirathna’s next.

The actors and the maker have confirmed the news and now, only the finer details are left to be finalised before this film is set to roll.

“Yes, we’re doing this film. It is confirmed. Right now, we’re just sorting out the dates of the film. It is something that I’d always hoped for and I'm really lucky that I am the one who is bringing together these two big stars for the first time in Sandalwood,” says Munirathna.

The film is said to be a remake of the Malayalam film Udayananu Thaaram, which had Mohanlal and Meena in the lead roles. The Malayalam film, in turn, was inspired by the 1999 hit Hollywood comedy Bowfinger, which starred Steve Martin and Eddie Murphy, which used the film industry as the backdrop and had one of the most exciting climaxes. We also saw a Bollywood remake, Shortkut, which starred Akshaye Khanna and Arshad Warsi.

Munirathna says, “We’ll start with the portions where Upendra will be required. After this, we’ll wait for Prem to finish with his home production Jogaiah, before we commence shooting with him. We hope to release the film later this year.”

Quiz him about the heroine for the film and he says, “We’re currently in talks with Shriya Saran and Charmee. We should be finalising with one of them. The official announcement of this film will be made shortly.” Looks like 2011 has quite some feasts for Sandalwood fanatics!
