Nothing came to me on a platter: Shruti Haasan

Actor Shruti Haasan, who’s back on the scene with the Kolaveri song, is in no hurry to sign Bollywood films. In fact, if anything, the actor is extremely happy with her films down South and her other interests which are dominated by music.

The actor who is currently living in Hyderabad says she finds it hard to choose between living in Chennai and Hyderabad. “I live in Hyderabad and Chennai is where I grew up. I also love Mumbai and the energy the place has because that is where my mother lives. I feel lucky to have three homes. I am a nomad and I love living like this. I don’t know of too many girls who get to travel and live like me, at my age.”

Shruti, who is equally interested in films as well as music, is whole heartedly supportive of younger sister, Akshara who is apparently planning to join Bollywood. “As an older sister, I think she is a fabulous person. She is still in that phase where she is deciding what she wants to do with her life. Akshara is really hard working and talented and I am sure whatever she chooses to do, she will do it well. As far as joining Bollywood is concerned, I am a doting elder sister and I would be more than happy with whatever she does. For me my family has been the biggest support system and I want to be there for her too,” says Shruti.

Since she has grown up in a film family, do link-ups about her personal life affect her, even now? “I have grown up in a house with two celebrities. I guess they are experts at dealing with these things by now. Having said that, nothing came to me on a platter. I have worked my way up. In the beginning it would bother me, but honestly when I read something about myself today, I take it in my stride. I don’t discuss my personal life at all, so sometimes stuff that gets written about me is ridiculous.”
