No woman, no nation: Rahul Bose

Actor Rahul Bose believes that taking up issues related to women are of prime importance and that we should get more people to get involved in highlighting issues like cervical cancer, education of the girl child and women’s safety.

He says, “I can certainly say that the issue of discrimination against women percolates from a patriarchal society. It has been there for a long time and sadly, it still continues, starting from female foeticides to exploitations. These issues shouldn’t be around at all in the first place.”

Rahul who’s known for his work as philanthropist feels that though we can’t prevent some diseases from happening, we can do enough to at least reduce the percentage. “You can’t prevent any disease from happening. What you can do is reduce the percentage of the disease affecting people. Simple things like taking care of one’s personal hygiene helps immensely,” adds Rahul.

He further explains, “We should not take these things for granted. These are the fundamental issues that are harming our society. If we don’t protect women then there will be nobody else. Without women there will be no nation, no new lives.  I do support this cause and it’s great that your newspaper has taken an initative in that direction.”
