No plunging necklines for Malaika Arora Khan

With umpteen number of fashion events serenading the city, it’s only natural that our Bollywood beauties are busy getting their wardrobe in place.

Item girl Malaika Arora Khan, say sources, has already started to scout for the perfect outfits to make an impression while at such dos. A designer who has worked with Malaika on several occasions says that the petite lady is not too fond of showing off her cleavage unlike her contemporaries. Instead, she likes to highlight her legs and back.

“Yes, at a time when several heroines are undergoing the knife for a bigger bust to put up on display, Malaika doesn’t even like outfits with necklines that plunge more than necessary,” says the designer.

Her brief to designers mostly is that they can take liberties when it comes to creations with low backs and thigh-high slits. “She (Malaika) just loves outfits with extremely low cut backs or better still if they are backless. And an outfit is bound to get her attention if it shows off ample amount of her well-toned legs,” says one designer.

It may be recalled that the outfit she picked for her stint at a recently held awards show in Toronto was high on leg display. In fact, she picked a gorgeous blue backless number while modelling for a designer friend for an upcoming fashion tour, the dress also had a slit on one side.

While Malaika is known to carry off trendy outfits with ample oomph, some designers are quick to point out a downside to this fetish of hers.

“She has a petite body frame. So most of the time, the thigh slit on her dress tends to go unnoticed as it doesn’t open up. And that leaves Malaika no choice but to hold on to the slit and push it aside to show off her leg. It doesn’t paint a pretty picture in the bargain,” says the designer citing several instances where Malaika had to resort to make the slit visible.
