Nirvana’s '‘Nevermind’' turns 20

Rock band Nirvana’s ground breaking 2nd album ‘Nevermind’ celebrated 20 years of its release on September 24.

It is regarded as one of the most influential albums of all time by musicians and fans alike which propagated the grunge scene.

According to Mtv.com, the album originally distributed only 46,521 copies in 1991 and later brought up the underground grunge scene into mainstream market when it went on to sell 30 million copies worldwide.

Frontman Kurt Cobain did not take the rise to fame too well until he decided to kill himself in 1994.

Surviving band members, Krist Novoselic and now Foo Fighters front man Dave Grohl, as well as its producer Butch Vig still hold the album as the defining moment of their careers.

“It was exactly like I hoped it would be. It’s a real simple record. A drum set, a bass, a couple of guitar overdubs and a vocal that’s doubled. That’s it,” Contactmusic quoted the album’s drummer Grohl as saying.

“There’s a joy and a sadness for me, because of the way things ended. There’s some anger. There’s a whole lot of things. But in the end, listening to this music reminds me that this is what it was all about,” Novoselic added.
