Nikki Aneja to take break from acting

Striking a balance between her career and personal life, Nikki Aneja who has won accolades for her performance in Zee's prime time serial - 'Astitva - Ek Prem Kahani', has decided to take a long break once she is done with playing Dr Simran.

The actor, who debuted with an inconsequential role opposite Anil Kapoor in 'Mr Azad' almost a decade ago, has decided to give priority to her family. It is nearly three years since Nikki Aneja fell in love with Sonny Walia and married him.

Her decision to take a break has not been easy.  Explains  her husband Sonny Walia. "Since we've been married Nikki has been slogging.

Though she is not the kind of actress who is insecure enough to grab each and every role that is dangled in front of her, it is taking a toll on her health and I am worried for her well-being."

Luckily for Nikki, her hubby dotes on her. Sonny has gone out of his way to see that Nikki is able to indulge in what she loves the most - acting. In fact, Sonny had almost chucked his business abroad to be with his wife for the last two and a half years.

A pucca teetotaller, Sonny does not mind chaperoning his wife at every television or film industry party.

Sonny adds fondly. "Now that Nikki does not have to prove anything to any one, we have decided to complete her pending commitments and settle down abroad where I can re-connect with my business associates.

Earlier, I was trying to work by shuttling between India and USA. I want Nikki to enjoy life after working so hard. Nikki deserves a well-earned holiday. But that will take another six months or so."

Nikki has been taking it easy as far as acting after the major accident on the sets of 'Gharwali Uparwali' three years ago, which had almost crippled her for around three months.

Will Nikki stage a comeback at a later stage? She says, "Yes, I am  going to take a long break. It is a conscious decision, but I haven't thought of quitting. Obviously, when I am in the UK,  I would not be able to pack in that much work."

Says Sonny. "Nikki is born for acting. I would not like her to suppress her urge to act. As and when she decides, she can face the arc lights.
