Music maestros join hands to perform on one stage

In a bid to support a noble cause, music composers from four different eras will come together on one platform. ‘Music Heals’, a concert will witness compositions of four renowned Bollywood music director-teams — Laxmikantji-Pyarelalji, Kalyanji-Anandji, Shivji-Hariji and Shankar, Ehsaan and Loy. Also, lending their compositions voice will be singers such as Kavita Krishnamoorthy, Alka Yalgnik, Hariharan, Sudesh Bhosle, Javed Ali, Sapna Mukharjee and Sanjay Tandon. Singer Annu Kapoor will host the event. The concert will be funding Cancer Aid & Research Foundation (CARF).

Krishnamoorthy says, “It has artists from the time we call ‘renaissance era of music’ to the modern age. Also it’s good to know that the money collected is not only going to aid the cancer patients, but also the research work.”

Loy Mendosa, of Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy trio, says, “The show is associated with a noble cause. We have lost some of our closest people to cancer, so we didn’t want to let go of this opportunity to help raise funds.” He is excited about performing with the legends of the music world, as he says, “We consider ourselves babies in front of such maestros. It is an amazing feeling to be teamed with such legends who have given some of the most memorable songs to the industry. Also, the set up is something India hasn’t witnessed in the recent past. I was in Sydney recently and saw an orchestra comprising of 450 live musicians on one stage... it was electrifying! We had the same culture… but it seems to be lost.

With this event, we are making an attempt to make it large and hopefully we can do such a thing all over India. We are four music composers, six-seven amazing singers, 40 chorus artists and 120 live musicians. That makes for huge team!” enthuses Loy.

Loy reveals the line-up for the event: “We have kept a mix of fast paced and some slow tracks. We will be playing Kajarare, Kal Ho Na Ho, and Tujhe sab hai pata…maa. We have rehearsed a couple of other songs as well. We will see how the audience’s reaction is and add the tracks accordingly.”
