Mumbai Heroes to fight with team South Superstars

It is raining cricket. And it’s not just the World Cup and the IPL that we are talking about. This weekend, it’s all about glamour on the field as film stars from Bollywood meet film stars from across the southern industries for a match that will have the rest of the country jumping out of their seats.

To be held at Vishakapatnam (Vizag) on March 5, the inaugural match of much talked about Celebrity Cricket League will kick start the first-of-its-kind set of matches where film stars showcase their cricketing skills for a change.

While the matches between each of the film industries is scheduled to be held only in June, Mumbai Heroes will play against the South Superstars — an impromptu team that features about three to four players from each of the southern industries, only for this inaugural match.

The winners will take home a ‘friendly’ trophy and meet again as part of their respective teams (eight separate teams) in June.

“Cricket, being the kind of game that it is, is one that almost everybody has or does play at some point. There are a lot of actors who are, in fact, fairly good cricketers too. Sandalwood has had its share of friendly matches with various teams for years now. It’s great to be taking it to the next level where each film industry can meet on field and play instead of just bumping into each other at award functions,” says actor Sudeep who is the captain of Sandalwood’s team and will be the vice captain of team South Superstars. 

For those who cannot make it to Vizag to watch your favourite stars in action, you could watch it live on your television screen on Gemini and Udaya Movie channels.
