'Mujhe Kalki se bachao': Prateik

It’s a known fact that actor Prateik is a shy person when he is not in front of the camera.

In fact his reserved nature had initially caused many to think that the young actor may have an attitude problem only to later realise that he is simply not much of a conversationalist.

Not many have tried to break through the silent barrier that Prateik often puts up, but actress Kalki Koechlin did just that on the sets of their new movie.

An eye witness says that Kalki is a brat on the sets and she was not in the mood to spare Prateik of her antics, despite being aware of his ‘quiet and reserved’ reputation.

“Kalki is friendly with everyone on the sets. She plays pranks on people and is laughing and smiling all the time. And when she saw that Prateik was pretty much the opposite, she decided to give him a dose of her spunk,” says the unit hand.

So once when the duo was required to act out a scene together, Kalki apparently mouthed a few lines that were not in the script.

“Prateik was surprised. He said that he didn’t recall reading any such scene in the script, but Kalki insisted that this is what she was instructed to do and told him to play along and be a natural actor. Prateik almost fell for it when a unit member laughed out loud and gave Kalki away,” recalls the source. 

But that was not all. Kalki was constantly pulling fast ones on Prateik and there were times when he would automatically be on his guard when he saw Kalki walk into the sets.

“Prateik would run for cover whenever he spotted Kalki and we even heard him say, ‘Please… mujhe Kalki se bachao’ several times,” laughs the source who insists that by the end of a few weeks the two managed to bond and are now thick friends.

And now, it’s double trouble on the sets of My Friend Pinto.

“Though Prateik portrays a tough exterior, those close to him will vouch for the fact that he is no less prankster himself. But he needs to reach a certain comfort level with a person to reveal that side of him. And since he became friends with Kalki, both were always up to some mischief or the other on unsuspecting unit members. We had a tough time calming them down,” says the source.
