Mika makes Kapil Dev dance to his tunes

It’s not too often that you see cricketer Kapil Dev dance. Well, you’ll get too just that, thanks to Bollywood singer Mika Singh.

“There have been only two people that Mika has idolised growing up, Sunny Deol and Kapil Dev. His wish to meet Kapil Dev was granted a few years ago when he was introduced to the cricketer briefly during the Indian Cricket League (ICL) tournament last year. But this was just a fleeting introduction and nothing more,” says a source close to Mika.

“Last week Mika was offered a private concert that he refused to perform as his vocal chords were suffering from exertion and his doctor had advised complete voice rest. But that wasn’t to be the end of that matter as after four years Mika’s idol Kapil Dev himself called him up and told him that it’s him who had recommended Mika’s name for this concert and Mika ‘must sing’ for the concert. Not being able to refuse his childhood idol, Mika agreed.

But with a rider. He told him that he would disregard the doctor’s advice only on one condition: if Kapil paaji himself attended the function and boogeyed to his tunes. Kapil Dev agreed and kept his word, flying in for the function specially from Dubai,” the source added.

When DNA got in touch with Mika, he couldn’t control his excitement. “‘I was told by the organisers that Kapil paaji never dances but I knew that he’s committed to it and he will. People were surprised to see paaji dance to Apni To Jaise Taise and Singh Is Kingg. I sang for three hours despite being advised rest by the doctor! Today I have lost my singing voice so it will take me longer to recuperate but I am glad that I sang for him and would do it again if he asks me to!” gushes Mika.
