Mumbai: Rajkumar Hirani, Vidhu Vinod Chopra and Aamir Khan have come up with a tribute to the iconic celluloid pair of Raj Kapoor and Nargis. This year marks the 60th anniversary of their film Andaz, which also starred Dilip Kumar, and went on to become a hit. Andazwas Raj Kapoor's first big success as an actor.

Kareena Kapoor and Aamir Khan to offer a tribute to the iconic celluloid pair of Raj Kapoor and Nargis in their upcoming film.

In 3 Idiots, Aamir and Kareena Kapoor have shot a song sequence in which they try to reprise an immortal Raj and Nargis moment (see pic). It was widely reported that Raj Kapoor had an affair with her during the 1950s but never fructified as Raj couldn't marry her.

A source says: "The film is about three boys and since Aamir and Kareena have the only romantic song in the movie, Rajkumar Hirani and Vidhu Vinod Chopra wanted to do something special. Aamir and Kareena loved the idea."

The informer adds: "For Kareena especially, it was a nostalgic moment doing a Raj Kapoor tribute as she is his granddaughter. Aamir has been a fan of Raj's movies and always wanted to pay him a tribute. The song sequence will see Aamir and Kareena dancing in the rain like Raj did in the song Pyaar Hua Ikraar Hua and then will go on to show many other Raj's romantic moments from his other films too."

Rajkumar confirmed to DNA: "The song picturised on Aamir and Kareena is a tribute to romance in Indian cinema. When we speak of romance in Indian cinema, we can't ignore Raj Kapoor -- he is known it."
