Mansee Deshmukh keen to juggle from the small screen to films

Making the jump from the small screen to the big one is like a dream come true for most television actors. And one such lucky tube actress is Mansee Deshmukh. The actress, who is currently seen in the music video, Jaa Chudail, of an upcoming film says that bagging this film in particular was a big deal for her.

Recalling how she bagged the film,Deshmukh says that she auditioned for the role of actor Vir Das’ girlfriend a long time back!

“I was told by the production team that they had auditioned around 250 girls before finalising me… so that was definitely an ego boost,” she smiles. Deshmukh says that though the film took long to complete, she didn’t give up hope. “It is a big banner production so I always had faith that Aamir Khan knew what he was doing,” she says.

So, what did she do in the meanwhile? “I was working on another upcoming film of mine — Boyz Toh Boyz Hai, with the likes of Anshuman Jha and Rajpal Yadav in it. It’s a fun film about four girls and four boys,” says Deshmukh, who is hoping that the change that Indian cinema is going through at the moment, will open up new avenues for her as well.

“I’m not doing typical masala films, so I’m hoping that I will get many more offers post the release of these flicks,” she says optimistically.

Having essayed a number of characters for the small screen, the actor was last seen playing a negative lead in Zee TV’s Meri Doli Teri Angana.

Does bagging films mean she’s ready to bid goodbye to the tube? “I’m not looking to quit television as such, but I’ve definitely got more choosy now,” she says.
