Currently in Hollywood for the post-production of Jennifer Lynch’s Hisss, the actor has decided to lend a helping hand for people suffering due to the economic slowdown in the US. The actor has lined up a slew of activities to generate funds in aid of Indians (specially techies) who have been badly hit by the economic slowdown and have lost their jobs. The actor has also decided to walk the ramp to generate funds for the cause.

Sources reveal that the sex siren has joined hands with ‘Care for the Cause’, a non-profit organisation consisting of a group of women who have decided to work towards “making a difference throughout the world by helping people who are suffering emotionally, physically or spiritually, especially during these  times of recession”.

“Mallika was also the guest of honour at a charity event of the NGO at LA. Every event that Care for the Cause throws, a charity is chosen to give funds to and this time the proceeds will be given to the Indian Cancer Society of New Delhi,” reveals a close friend of the star.

The source reveals that the    recent event was a ‘dinner and entertainment gala’ which included a live performance by singer Nauzad, followed by a dialogue from key note speakers Naina Kapadia and Dr Jay Amin on emotional and physical healing for people suffering from depression-related symptoms and diseases. The event was also attended by a group of Indians who have lost their jobs due to the depression.
 
“Mallika has also agreed to walk the ramp the aid of people affected by depression. Designer Anju Modi will be soon putting together a fashion show to showcase her new collection and that will feature Mallika as the showstopper,” she ends.
