Life couldn’t be better: Vir Das

Young actor Vir Das is currently on a professional high. The actor’s film is up for release and his stand-up comedy acts are on the upswing. Das considers himself lucky to have worked with the Yash Chopra banners, followed by an Aamir Khan production.

As expected, he cannot stop talking about Aamir and his passion for films. “Aamir is known to make beautiful films and when this one came to me I was sure it would be something good. Aamir has taken a huge risk with a film like this and since he was willing to take that chance, I took it up too.”

Talking about the film he says it is a mad caper about three friends who are on the run to save their lives. His character is that of a frustrated, angry man, contrary to the person that he is in real life.

“My character in the film is always annoyed, frustrated and snapping at people. He is constantly bickering and whining. It was fun to play him because he is nothing like I am. I am generally a very happy, go-lucky person. I really had to push my boundaries because I needed the right amount of anger to play him convincingly,” he reveals.

Films aside, the actor is also very excited about his stand up comedy acts which have been highly appreciated of late. “It’s great because people are increasingly getting interested in comedy acts. The number of people coming for my shows has also increased manifold now. Also I have been compromising on my sleep and travelling to make time for my shows and films. I am working round the clock, but life couldn’t get better.”

Well funny men always have women falling for them but Das says that in his case, women only like the person they see on stage. “I am very rude, crass and bad on my shows and I am sure women don’t want me to be like that. I don’t treat women like that in real life. Besides, I have a lovely girlfriend who likes me and laughs on all my jokes.”
