Left out of 'Swayamkrushi' promotions, Tamanna P is upset

She’s no alien to the party animals in Bangalore. Tamanna P is someone who’s quite popular in the social scene in the city. This emcee and event organiser will now be seen in a new avatar from this Friday, when her debut Kannada film, Swayamkrushi, hits the screens.

“I chose this film because I loved the script. A friend was the casting director and he assured me that although the film’s team was new, they were honest and hard-working. I know that the Kannada audiences like drama and extreme emotions and my role allowed me to showcase that,” says Tamanna.

Describing her role in the film, she says, “I play a young college girl. The protagonist in the film comes from a village to the city and it shows how he becomes successful. My character is pivotal as I’m the reason behind his success. I have put in a lot of hard work, considering I didn’t know the language. I’ve my fingers crossed now.”

Didn’t the fact that she was debuting opposite a newcomer, Veerendra Babu, worry her, when she could have waited for a known hero. “I took on the film when I had reached a peak doing what I was doing. I got this film offer and I signed it rather impulsively. Now, when I look back, it does bother me. I am sure that for my next signing, I will wait till I get an offer with a known hero,” says Tamanna.

The youngster accepts the fact that not all was rosy in her debut film. “When I was on the sets, it was quite a tough task. Since the makers gave me a bad make-up artist, I ended up doing my own hair and make-up for most of the film. I have co-operated with all of this. Today, I’m zapped that I’m not being included in the film’s promotions, when all I want is to wish for the team’s success,” says Tamanna.

Ask her if this little rocky road before her debut has changed any of her showbiz dreams, and Tamanna says, “Not really. I want to do more films. I am really eager to check out the reactions to my debut film. I knew that acting was what I was meant to do when I didn’t require any glycerine to do an emotional scene in a language that I didn’t comprehend.”
