Kiran Rao turns video director for 'Delhi Belly'

Filmmakers are constantly opting for the less trodden path for their films and — innovative marketing techniques, extra videos, success parties for songs — think of it and you have it.

Aamir Khan Productions’ is no different. Known for his penchant to get the run-up to a film right, this time around, Khan has the full support of his wife, Kiran Rao as well.

After her directorial debut with Dhobi Ghat earlier this year, Rao has now taken her cinematic interest a step ahead and directed a video for Delhi Belly.

No, it isn’t the very popular 'Bhaag DK Bose' number that we are talking about. The song, 'Switty Tera Pyar Chaida', which Kiran has conceptualised and directed, has already created quite a stir. Of course, it’s taking a little time for industry insiders and the audience to digest the fact that the same person who directed Dhobi Ghat, has worked on this one as well.

“Now, I can direct a song in a film too,” Rao simply says, adding, “I must admit I had great fun while shooting for it. While directing the song, I realised that it is every guy’s dream to be a rapper. Some day, I would really like to see Aamir dancing like Imran (Khan), wearing a lot of chains and rings — just the way a rapper does.”

The song has a distinctly underground, rap style and Rao can’t stop raving about Imran. “For the first time, Imran will be seen as a rapper and I must say he’s done a brilliant job of it. I am really impressed,” she insists. Now, that’s what we’d call some family effort.
