Karan Johar not a royal guest

Filmaker Karan Johar is not an official guest at the diamond jubilee celebrations marking 60 years of Queen Elizabeth II’s reign. The event — the final celebrations of which will be held at the Buckingham Palace during June 2012 — will see an august gathering of world leaders who will congregate to wish her. Johar is not on that list.

Karan himself confirmed that he has actually received an invitation to be the global goodwill ambassador for Visit Britain, a UK tourism initiative that is backed by the UK government. Sources close to Johar also confirmed that he is also not on the list of goodwill ambassadors who have been handpicked for the London Olympics either.

“I have only been invited to be a global goodwill ambassador for Visit Britain and nothing else. This initiative comes in the run up to the 2012 London Olympics,” confirms Johar.

The filmmaker is not alone. Before Johar, there have been quite some confusion when Sandeep Soparrkar created a stir by claiming that he was invited to show dance to the newly married royal couple. However, it turned out accordong to reports that the royal palace never invited Sandip Soparrkar.
