Kangna Ranaut doesn't let rumours affect her

The actress Kangna Ranaut may have been able to break away from her serious image, but she can’t seem to break away from the controversies that continue to dodge her.  Whether it’s buzz of producers warring over her dates or co-actors apparently giving her a tough time, Ranaut keeps finding herself making news for all the wrong reasons. Ranaut , however, believes in taking all controversies in her stride.

“Most of these controversies are all rumours. I would’ve taken them seriously had there been any truth to them at all, but I’d be silly to take rumours seriously na,” she shoots back. “I don’t let them affect me. Besides, where is the time to ponder over such rubbish.”

Currently the actor’s busy promoting her forthcoming Indra Kumar comedy and shooting for Tezz and I Love New York. Talking about comedies, she points out that she is enjoying the genre, but adds that she is happier about the fact that she is now getting offers across genres and not just comedies. “It’s always nice to challenge yourself and discover a new facet to the actor in you. No matter what the genre,” she says.

Ranaut also admits that she’s lucky to have reached a point where she has the choices to make. “As a newcomer you don’t get the privilege of choice, that someone more established, or someone with a filmi background might, so you have to take what you get initially. I’m glad those films did well and now I’m being offered great scripts across genres,” she adds.

And the one genre she’s really keen on trying now is action. Something on the lines of Tomb Raider a la Angelina Jolie? “Definitely. I think I’d be great in a role like that,” she smiles. “I would love to do an all out action flick for sure. There are so many exciting roles out there, I’m game for anything interesting,” she says. “The criteria is always the script. If that’s engaging and I feel the audiences will enjoy, I would love to do it. I’m never going to let myself be limited by genres.”

Even if that means going de-glam and ditching her sexy image? “Of course. I think if you can act, and you are a good actor, people relate to you as that — they remember your roles and performances. Sexy or not, I’m an actor, and I think that’ll always be my core,” she signs off.
