Kamal Haasan's style policing

With Vishwaroopam finally kickstarting after many months of planning, Kamal Haasan has asked his team to keep mum and not jinx it.

Kamal Haasan's style policing

You may have thought that Kamal Haasan, with his subaltern views and controversy-clad image, is a complete non-believer when it comes to superstitions. But, it looks like the actor-director has fallen prey to some good, old-fashioned style policing on the sets of his new film, which he’s hoping will see a smooth run.

Vishwaroopam was to have launched early this year. But, the film saw a series of endless delays. First, the director Selvaraghavan had to opt out of the film, considering that he had a packed year with his prior commitments. Then, there was confusion with the lead heroine, the original choice, Sonakshi Sinha, backed out after much speculation and finally, the had a tough time roping in the final female lead.

Now, with Anushka Shetty agreeing to play the female lead, Rahul Bose playing the baddie and Kamal Haasan taking on the double role of the protagonist and the director, the film finally kicked off this Monday. While there is much reason for team Vishwaroopam to rejoice, they’ve also got strict orders from the makers of the film.

A source from the unit tells us, “This is a great deal for us that we’re getting to work in a film that is being led by Kamal sir. But, we cannot go ahead and announce our happiness about the same anywhere. The producers have given us strict instructions that we shouldn’t even breathe a word about the film outside, until we’re done with a fair chunk of the film.”

The source adds, “The makers don’t want to jinx this film, which has already been delayed by many months. There are many detractors, who are eager to take a jibe at the film. So, we’re now obeying orders and ensuring that no information, photograph or any other clue about the film leaks out, especially to the media.” Guess this also comes as part of the whole game of film-making, eh?
