Kalki Koechlin wants Anurag Kashyap to quit smoking

Actor Kalki Koechlin is on top of the world and it has nothing to do with the fate of her movies at the BO. A source close to the actor tells us that the actor is very pleased and proud of herself because she has finally quit smoking.

“Kalki is relieved, to say the least. She wanted to kick the habit since a long time, but it is only recently that she finally came about to doing it. Now she’s playing a few tricks to ensure that her husband Anurag (filmmaker-actor Anurag Kashyap) lets go of his smoking habit as well,” says the source.

Kalki apparently used a rather different technique to quit smoking as well.

“She realised that if a pack of cigarettes is readily available, she couldn’t resist popping one in her mouth. So she decided to take the long route and make her own cigarettes. We would often see her struggle to make them on the sets and even before she could succeed, she would be called to give her shot. At such times she had no option but to stop mid-way and face the camera. This happened quite a few times and that’s how she increased the gap between each cigarette she consumed before finally calling it quits,” reveals the source.

So, was Kalki irritable during the phase that she was trying to quit? “Not really. She had Anurag for company while shooting most of the time, so maybe he had to bear the brunt of her mood swings but she was sweet enough not to let out steam on anyone else,” laughs the source adding that her goal now is to make her husband take to making his own cigarettes too, in the hope that he will also be so bored of the process that he will eventually call it quits too.

Talking about the equation the husband-wife duo share, while on the sets, the source says that they are a fun couple, who have their share of arguments but don’t let it affect the team.

“They’re professionals while working. So if Anurag takes more time than usual to come out of his room and Kalki is ready for her shot, she may get bugged, but only in the capacity of an actor who’s time is being wasted. Ditto with Anurag. So it’s a healthy environment, really,” says the source.
