Kajal Aggarwal does not feel overshadowed by Ajay Devgn

She may not have taken the usual route to Bollywood by first choosing to act in films down South despite the fact that she’s neither a South Indian nor is she South-based, but actor Kajal Aggarwal reveals that making a debut as a lead opposite Ajay Devgn has been worth the wait. “To get to act with powerhouse performers is always a joy for any actor and Ajay’s always ranked high on that list of talented actors. So it’s obviously exciting for any newcomer to get to work with him,” says the actor who plays Devgn’s lady love in the just-released action thriller.

So wasn’t she worried about being overshadowed by Devgn who’s returning to full-on action with this film?

“Well, I’ve never thought of it that way. Yes, it’s a special film for Ajay, but he’s made it as special for all of us too. All of us have well-etched out roles. Besides, I’m playing his lady-love, not competing with him in action sequences, so there’s no question of feeling over-shadowed here,” explains the new-star-on-the-Bolly-block.

A newcomer in Bollywood she may be, but Kajal’s already a well-known face down South with hits like Magadheera to her credit. And she is quick to add that despite stepping into Bollywood, she has no intentions of letting her South films take a backseat.

Maintaining that she would not want to limit herself to any particular industry — Bollywood or South, the Mumbai-based actor adds, “Cinema has no boundaries, especially when it comes to language. So it’s  not going to become a barrier for the kind of films that I hope to do. Regional differences are anyways diminishing here. So I don’t see the need to give up one for another.”
