Just work, no link-ups for actor Shiv Pandit

Actor Shiv Pandit who had quit TV to pursue a career in films finally made his big screen debut with his role in Shaitan. Having tried his hand earlier in radio jockeying, plenty of commercials, acting in a hit TV serial and hosting a cricket show, films happened after a long wait.

Pandit now wants to focus his attention on Bollywood. “I was very clear from the beginning that I want to explore my acting talent via films. I did only one show on TV and hosted a cricket tournament. The problem with TV is that you get stuck with similar roles. For me, being in films is like a challenge and I now want to totally focus on Bollywood. As an actor I am ready to take up any challenge that comes my way and will get into the skin of the character. But I have to give credit to theatre, radio, TV and commercials that made me camera-friendly and unearthed the actor in me,” he says.

Pandit will soon be seen in a Tamil film. “Sometimes I feel that a little delay is better than a hasty start. And in my case I feel I’ve been lucky to be present at the right place at the right time. Many people thought that I should debut with a rom-com but frankly, of late, how many such debuts have worked in favour of the actor? When I heard the script of Shaitan, though I wasn’t the only one in the film, I was sure that this the role I want to enter in films with and luckily it clicked.”

Tell him that rumour mills were abuzz that Pandit was dating his TV show co-star Kavita Kaushik and he reacts, “Oh my God! We are just good friends. I don’t understand that why can’t people see a boy and a girl as friends. After working for months together for eight to nine hours daily, you bound to become good friends. Ditto with Kavita. In addition to this I want to mention that I am single! And for now, I’m just ready to mingle with films. I want to focus on my work and will have fun a little later.”
