John Abraham urges kids to go beyond academics

There’s more to actor John Abraham than bulging biceps and a dimpled cheek. The actor’s entire family is deeply involved in various philanthropic activities and John is no exception. In fact, just a few days back, John was seen at an event where he addressed a bunch of kids and spoke about the importance of education.

The actor emphasised that his dream is to see India achieve a 100 per cent literacy rate and reminded the kids gathered there how fortunate they are to go to school, because there are many kids out there who are not as fortunate. He even encouraged them to give back to society in their own little way when they get a chance to do so. And while at it, John also spoke about how he would love to see sports become an integral part of the education system here.

“John is a sports lover. He believes in a wholesome education and sports, he thinks, plays a big role in this,” says a source.
The kids were apparently eager to know what kind
of a student John was in his school days. John replied that he was an above average student, but his brother always managed to top his class — that’s because his time was divided between academics and playing
football.

“I dream of 100 per cent shiksha for India. I would usually rank among the top 10 in my class. If I had continued playing football I might have been in the national team today,” he told students and urged them to give equal attention to sports. In fact, he said that most students ignore sports because it’s not a full-fledged subject. Maybe if it were, students would not consider it a waste of time, he opined.
