Jennifer Lopez dropped by Epic Records

Singer/actress Jennifer Lopez has been revealed to have been dropped by Epic Records following the flop of her two recent singles, 'Louboutins' and 'Fresh Out of the Oven' on the Billboard charts.

Lopez's manager, Benny Medina, had claimed that the 40-year-old had not wanted to renew her contract and that it had been a mutual decision not to resign.

"Jennifer had a wonderful relationship with the Sony Music group and they have shared many successes together," the New York Daily News quoted him as saying.

"But the time was right to make a change that best serves the direction of her career as an actress and recording artist," he said.

But a source has revealed that Epic/Sony was not willing to continue its association with Lopez.

"Jennifer hasn't been on top of her game for a while," a source said.

But the singer is not taking the bad news sitting down, and as per a music industry insider she may try to release the album online, now that Epic has shelved it.

"Epic technically owns the material from her album, so she needs to buy it back from them to have control over it," the source said.

"But she'll try to release the album online if need be. It may be her last resort to take control of a poor situation," the source added.
