Jayendra Sarma is bitten by the cinema bug

His first film might have received mixed reviews from the critics, but director Jayendra Sarma is quite excited about his Telugu film 180. “I’ve been an ad film-maker for over 20 years. But, there’s nothing quite as exciting as cinema. My experience has been quite wonderful and being from the advertising background, I experimented with the filming techniques,” says he.

An example of this has been the Vuvuzela song, which is already quite popular with the crowds. “The song was shot in super slow motion. Each and every step of the song had to be carefully thought out. We used the backdrop of water and the rain because it looks great in slow motion. The song is quite popular with youngsters today,” says Jayendra.

The debutant film-maker believes that one needs to push oneself beyond one’s own capabilities to achieve something great. “I’ve been in the advertising industry for over 20 years. I’ve worked with every big brand and agency. I’ve worked on advertisements in all languages. When I decided I had the right story to step into direction, I also ensured I had the means to do something bigger and better,” says Jayendra.

And, as most of the film-makers who work with Siddharth can’t stop praising him, Jayendra too is very impressed by the actor. “Siddharth has been very supportive throughout the filming. He’s someone who gets into the complete process of film-making, which is nice,” he says.

Jayendra is now all set to make more films. “I’ve been bitten by the bug. Making feature films is a very enjoyable experience,” he says, adding, “And I’m open to making films in all languages, even Kannada. After all, I did make a Telugu film even though I can barely manage to speak the language!”
