It’s been one great journey: Anushka Ranjan

They are one of the television industry’s most well-known couples. Anu and Shashi Ranjan are the founders of Indian Television awards and have made umpteen television programmes and films. The duo have also played an instrumental role in the careers of many TV stars today. When  After Hrs chatted up the lively Anu, she said that life has been a fun journey for her. Having completed her schooling at Shimla, Anu pursued her higher education at Loreto House College  in Calcutta and subsequently to the USA, where she pursued her post graduate studies and a career, simultaneously.  “I did an extensive stint in marketing and sales at the California Mart for a prestigious jewellery and garment company. That year I met Shashi at a friend’s wedding and within no time we fell in love with each other and tied the knot. We’ve been having fun ever since. It’s been one great journey.”

Talking about their ventures, she says, “We are again concentrating on films — a romantic comedy and a edgy thriller is on the cards. I feel that Shashi is a champion creator so he handles the creative aspects and I look after the marketing part of the business. Also, now is a good time to produce as television and films are on a great high.”

1. Buzz is that the couple’s older daughter Anushka wants to make it big in Bollywood as well. Says Anu, “She has always wanted to be an actor. And why not — her friends, Sonakshi (Sinha) and Shraddhha (Kapoor) have also started off now. Currently Anushka is modelling at a few fashion shows.” She further adds,  “We will launch her with a romantic movie — that’s always better. I would love to see her opposite top heroes like Salman and Shah Rukh Khan, Ranbir Kapoor and the like. We are keeping our fingers crossed that things work out as we plan,” ends Anu.
