It’s a visual feast in 2010...

DNA lists the most awaited movies and TV shows that are coming your way...From a jaw-dropping mix of glamour to innovative content, this year has it all!

Big Screen Scorchers

Kites: A truly international film, Kites tells the story of a young conman who lives life in Las Vegas trying to make fast money by hook or crook and always looking for the big score. Directed by Anurag Basu and produced by Rakesh Roshan, the film stars Hrithik Roshan, Barbara Mori and Kangna Ranaut. The film will have an Indian and international version that will release    simultaneously.

My Name is Khan: When Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol pair up for the big screen, they always create magic and Karan Johar’s next certainly becomes among the most awaited movies of 2010. SRK plays an autistic man in it — certainly a big attraction for the film.
Raavan: Abhishek and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan come on screen together in Mani Ratnam’s Raavan — a modern day adaptation of the ancient epic Ramayan. It will release in three regional languages: Hindi, Tamil and Telugu.

Action Replayy: Directed by Vipul Shah, the film brings back the stunning jodi of Akshay Kumar and Aishwarya after Khakhee. The film is based on the concept of time travel and the USP of the film is certainly Ash who is sporting an old lady’s get up for the first time.

Dhobi Ghat: Kiran Rao debuts as a director with Aamir Khan Production’s Dhobi Ghat. Starring Pratiek Babbar and Aamir, Dhobi Ghat is a small budget film shot in guerilla style and has been shot all over Mumbai. Kiran was not very keen on casting Aamir for the role but Aamir was  relentless and managed to convince Kiran.

Delhi Belly: Another one from Aamir Khan Productions, the movie that has Imran Khan in the lead is directed by ad filmmaker Abhinay Deo and is a dark comedy revolving around several characters in Delhi.

Karthik Calling Karthik: Produced by Ritesh Sidhwani and Farhan Akhtar, the movie stars Farhan and Deepika Padukone. It is the story of a lovable loser Karthik, whose life changes with the help of someone who also claims to be Karthik. It is a thrilling and romantic journey of this man’s victory against all odds.

Khelein Hum Jee Jaan Sey: Starring Abhishek Bachchan, Ashutosh Gowariker’s film is a period thriller based on the book Do and Die by Manini Chatterjee on the Chittagong Uprising of 1930.

TV Ka Tadka

Small B on small screen:

After Bachchan senior, it’s time for AB junior to set the small screen on fire. Abhishek Bachhan is making his debut on TV with National Bingo Night where everyone from the studio contestant to the studio audience and even TV viewers will participate in the game in real time. Luck plays a major role to win this one than intellectual quotient.

YRF TV with KJo:
Yash Raj Films, which is one of the biggest film producers in the country, have decided to go big on the small screen. They have launched five new shows on Sony TV — four of which are fiction including Mahi Way, Rishta.Com, Powder and Seven focussing on diverse themes like action-adventure, marriage, romance, comedy and thrillers. However, the highlight of the package is the 20-week show Lift Kara De that is being hosted by Karan Johar.

Zee Huzoor:
Zee’s success is sure to continue in 2010 with two more unique shows in queue named Do Saheliyaan and Zee Riston ka Utsav. Both shows are set to be launched in the first quarter.

Aaja Nachle:
Though Nach Baliye has lost its shine, Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa still has the promise to have a big line-up of stars. However, it’s Zee’s Dance India Dance which is wowing the audience all over the country. Another channel is coming up with a dance show Chak  Dhoom Dhoom that will have kids as participants.

Ding Dong, Baby Sing a Song:
Reality shows that judge a participant’s singing talent are still a big rage among audiences. Zee’s Sa Re Ga Ma Pa does well and Gajendra Singh’s version still manages decent viewing. Indian Idol is again gearing up for a big season.

Daily reality:
Star-studded reality shows like Khatron Ke Khiladi with Akshay Kumar, Bigg Boss with Big B, 10 Ka Dum with Salman Khan are expected to hit the airwaves too. Sach Ka Saamna is also gearing up with Rajeev Khandelwal. Like last year when Rakhi Sawant managed to grab TRPs with her marriage, this year too all eyes will be on Rahul Mahajan who is expected to choose his life partner in Rahul Dulhaniya Le Jayega. Special mention for Mahayatra that will have contestants making a journey to the Chaar Dhaam.

Soap operas:
Since TV thrives on sob operas, there are many in the pipeline from various production houses as Do Hanson Ka Jodaa, Neer Bhare Tere Naina —Devi, Visarjan, Kalki, Traffic Signal, Dil Chahta Hai. Choose your pick.
