Hollywood actor Russell Crowe is set to visit India secretly in July and spend about a week here. The Oscar-winning actor is likely to land in New Delhi and then head to religious places like Haridwar and Hrishikesh.
A source says, “Russell’s trip is totally under wraps and he will stay only in North India. He is apparently coming to refresh his body and mind. The actor has just completed a gruelling shooting schedule and has a jam-packed filming schedule for the next two years. This, in turn, only means that he won’t even have time for a breather and so he just wants to take a quick rejuvenating vacation. We hear that his wife Danielle Spencer is also travelling with him.”
The source also tells us that during the course of his visit, Russell might do some groundwork too for film-maker Sudipto Sen’s forthcoming movie Amrit Kumbh in which he is likely to play a German writer. Though Russell has still not given a nod to Sudipto, speculations are rife that he might take up the project eventually.
The source adds, “Russell is a perfectionist. By touring India, he would pick up the mannerisms of international tourists in the country. He will also get a first-hand account of how holy places in India are and what the code of conduct at such places should be. It’s the perfect setting for him to do the research work.”
Also, when Russell was at Cannes recently, there was gossip that he might team up with actor Aishwarya Rai-Bachchan for a Hollywood movie. Developments on this front may also happen during his India visit.
