In terms of fashion, no one caught my eye: Deepika Padukone

Actor Deepika Padukone feels the fashion quotient has been average in Cannes this year.

In terms of fashion, no one caught my eye: Deepika Padukone

It was a very proud moment for me as an actor to be there (in Cannes) and walk the red carpet representing India.

My first visit as an actor was thoroughly memorable. It was nostalgic too as I had been to Cannes before when I was a school girl.

I found that the world really looks up to India and our movies and stars. We are making good cinema and as a country we are quite the centre of attention due to all the developments we are making.

There is great interest about India’s movie-stars and how they look and how they dress. I could feel that when I walked the red carpet wearing a saree as the shutterbugs just went crazy.

Actors, who were not familiar with me, were also asking about me since I was an Indian.

I was there on the second day of Cannes and honestly in terms of fashion, no one caught my eye. It was very average.

I don’t remember any striking outfit too. I was glad I was wearing Rohit Bal’s saree as from the moment I got down from my car, the photographers went busy clicking. I’m hoping the remaining days will make up for this low on fashion.

For me, I come from Cannes with a big smile and look forward to going there again next time.
