In love with Sandalwood, says Kannada actress Parul Yadav

Given the response her Kannada song has received, actor Parul Yadav can’t help but sing ‘Pyaarge aagbittaithe namdukke pyaarge aagbittaithe…’ to her fast growing fan base in Karnataka.

This song from the Komal-starrer Govindayanamaha received lakhs of hits with in a few days of being uploaded on the internet.

Along with the hilarious lyrics; haunting music; old world charm that the locale and choreography have created and Komal’s funny antics, it is Parul’s grace and beauty that has made the song a chartbuster. “I can’t tell you how happy I am with the response the song has received. I did not expect to get this kind of attention in my very first Kannada film,” says an overjoyed Parul. She even adds that she got trained in belly dancing for the song.

Ask her to talk about her role in the film and she says, “I play Mumtaz, a girl whom the hero falls in love with. My character reciprocates his feelings only after he helps her father but later finds out that he was putting on a mask just to win her hand.”

We next ask her to clear the air around the controversy that erupted recently about who the leading lady was given that there are two other actresses in the film.

“All of us have been given equal importance. By saying anything more I would simply be giving away the plot,” she counters. Whether she is the leading lady of this film or not buzz has it that ever since the song has released, she has been flooded with offers to play the lead in some big banner projects.

A film opposite Sudeep; K Manju production; and a film alongside Sriki of Olave Mandara fame have come her way sources say. “It is true that I have been offered some projects but I cannot confirm anything now,” is what the tight lipped actor says.

Hindi film Traffic is also in her kitty according to sources. The film that will go on floors in June stars Amitabh Bachchan, Arjun Rampal and Jimmy Shergill among others. “It will definitely be good to work in such a project if offered,” she says. What she is currently looking forward to is however matching steps with Kannada actor Diganth at a popular awards night. “We will be dancing to Pyarge… and I’m sure it will receive a good response,” she signs off.
