Imran Khan yet to respond to his RTI query

Imran Khan had spoken about making his responses to his RTI query public during his movie promotion; he is yet to follow through on his promise.

Imran Khan yet to respond to his RTI query

Actor Imran Khan’s self-imposed deadline of coming up with “something interesting” about his Right To Information (RTI) query has now flown by without a sound.

The actor in the presence of his publicists had spoken about filing a Public Interest Litigation against the proposed drinking law of the Maharashtra government during the promotion of his last film Delhi Belly. For reasons that he “discovered later”, he never filed the petition.

Now, while promoting his next film also starring Katrina Kaif, the actor again spoke about the issue, only this time he said that he has filed a RTI query and he will be declaring something to the public in a week’s time. There is no sign of a response from Imran yet.

“I am not doing this to promote any film. I genuinely wanted to file a PIL against the proposed drinking. Back then, I was busy with film promotions. There has been an interesting development in the past 10 days, which I will share a week from now,” Imran had declared on August 13 saying that he “had filed an RTI three and a half weeks ago and I’m expecting a reply in the next few days.”

“Unfortunately, Imran says these important things at the time of his film promotions, insisting on the fact that he is not doing it for the promotion of the film. He should refrain from using the words like ‘planning to’ or ‘will do soon’ and should actually do it.

Unfortunately it is the job of his publicists to ensure that the actor should not behave irresponsibly when it comes to speaking on a public platform on such important issues. But it seems that he is getting all the wrong advice,” says a filmmaker who had previously worked with Imran.

Imran’s friends say that he is however “very busy” again till Friday this week as his film is releasing. Obviously, the film is of primary importance to Imran than the proposed drinking law of the Maharashtra government that he was so keen on opposing.
