I’m not driven by stats, says Katrina Kaif

Actress Katrina Kaif’s keen for some action! Not in real life, but in reel one,  for that’s a genre that the star’s yet to explore on screen. “Yes action and a period film. Why not? That should be fun to do,” she smiles. But they’ll have to wait for a while as the actress’s kitty’s brimming with films already.

Kat’s hectic shoot schedules have ensured that she stay busy, and the coming few months will be no different. Buzz is that soon after she wraps up Mere Brother Ki Dulhan, she will start work on yet another Yash Chopra film this time opposite Bollywood Badshah Shah Rukh Khan. This will be the first the time that the two stars will be seen together on screen, but Katrina’s reluctant to talk about it. “It’s always good to work with nice people in interesting projects, is all I can say.”

Ask her if she feels the heat of the ongoing competition between contemporaries for both films and endorsements and she says, “I have no problems with anybody here and I for sure don’t go looking over my shoulder to see what other actors or my contemporaries are up to,” she says. Having said that, Kaif adds that  it’s good to have competition.

“Competition’s important, but more than with anyone else, I believe we are in competition with our own selves,” she says. “Rather than trying to fit into someone else’s shoes, it good to work on creating your own body of work and own identity!”

As for endorsements, a division of TAM Media Research’s  recent study on celebrity brand endorsements for the period of Jan-Dec 2010 stated that Katrina’s leading the Bolly heroines pack as the celebrity endorser on TV.  Point this out and Katrina says, “I don’t  let myself be driven by these stats, but it’s good to know that people appreciate you for your real self, for that’s what the ads project as against to an image that’s created by a film role,” Like Sheila? “Yes like Sheila. I don’t think I’m like her at all,” she laughs. But any more hot and sexy tracks on the menu yet? “Tracks yes, hot and sexy? I’ll let the audience decide,” signs off Kaif.
