I’m living in wonderful times: Sushmita Sen

Recently actress Sushmita Sen met the spiritual leader of
Tibet, the Dalai Lama, and life seems to have come a full circle for her.

The actress and entrepreneur made a private visit to Dharamsala to seek his blessings, along with her adopted daughter Renee. Sushmita was reportedly presented a khata, a traditional white robe that the Tibetans offer as a gesture of honour. Needless to point out that the former Miss Universe was jubilant at the experience of meeting the Nobel Peace Prize winner.

Ask her about how the meeting went and Sen breaks into a beatific laughter, as she says, “There were only two people who I wanted to meet in my life — Mother Teresa and Dalai Lama. And I’ve met both. These are the two people, who I thought had a message for me and I wanted to seek blessings from them. I have got the message now from both those people and I consider myself blessed. To me, Dalai Lama is the embodiment of compassion.”

Quite a spiritual believer herself, Sen feels that each human life is to be valued. “Our population runs into millions, but we are counted as numbers. Human life is not a number. In fact, the title of my charity stands for the value of each and every single life. You have an ability to change each life, therefore ‘I am’,” the actor explains.

Sen had also been quite vocal about her support to the Anna Hazare anti-corruption campaign, and had been constantly tweeting to urge people to join hands for the cause. “The drive is a wake-up call for all of us. It has instigated a movement in the consciousness of people. Everybody is coming up to support a genuine cause. I’m living in wonderful times,” Sen signs off.
