IIFA wows Macau

The dazzling city of Macau is awake 24 hours, thanks to the many casinos abounding the place. It dazzled even more with stars present for the IIFA weekend. Wherever you turn at this palatial hotel, and you encounter a Bollywood presence. However, this year many big names are missing from the IIFA weekend.

Yesterday, was the fashion show, where works of Manav Gangwani (couture wear) and Farah Khan (jewellery) were shown. While Bipasha walked for Manav, Farah’s sister Sussanne and brother-in-law Hrithik Roshan showcased her jewellery. The highlight of the evening however, was the Greek singer Peter Andre belting out two songs from his new album. Zayed Khan and Sophie Chaudhury along with Abhishek Bachchan hosted the show.

The first looks of two films, Madhur Bhandarkar’s Jail and David Dhawan’s Do Not Disturb were shown, followed by press conferences attended. Today, there was a film workshop with Oscar winner Resul Pookutty and Anil Kapoor, which was attended by a few students and the media. AR Rahman who was supposed to be the part of the show, didn’t make it, because he apparently missed his flight. While Anil Kapoor took us through his career of 31 years, it was Pookutty’s emotional speech that touched hearts. Pookutty spoke about his long struggle to coax film makers to go for sync sound instead of dubbing. Later today evening, the grand award ceremony will be held, for which the green carpet is laid out. (green instead of red, as the IIFA supports the cause environmental cause against global warming).
