I’d never planned for a launch: Actor Rannvijay

One of the reasons why the television series Roadies is so popular with the ladies is Rannvijay. The show not just fetched the veejay and actor an impressive fan following, but also resulted in Rannvijay winning himself assignments in Bollywood.

After having played second fiddle in movies like London Dreams and Action Replayy, he is excited about playing the lead role. He will be seen in Nagesh Kukunoor’s Mod with Ayesha Takia that is all set to release this week.

Playing the solo lead for the first time in his career, Rannvijay says that the character gave him a lot of scope to show his acting prowess.

“I play this character called Andy who is quirky, sensitive, loud, intense and romantic. Contrary to the biker image that I have, this one gave me a lot of scope to perform. I have lot of shades in this movie as the love story slowly unfolds into a thriller,” begins Rannvijay.

Probe him about working with Nagesh and he says, “He is a tough director and I had to go through several auditions before he signed me for this film. But he is very passionate about what he does and that’s what I admire about the man and he’s completely chilled out when he’s not shooting.”

With offers coming his way post the promotional activities of Mod, Rannvijay says, “I had never planned for a launch. I started acting by chance and it grew into a passion. I like to take things as they come. I don’t have any set priorities on the kind of roles I would like to play, I want to play different characters.”

So will he put television on hold? “I would definitely continue working in television as that gave me the face in Bollywood. If people know who I am today, it’s because of my shows on TV. Moreover, it fetched me more female fans,” chuckles Rannvijay.
