I will work with Salman Khan: Abhinav Kashyap

If recent reports are to be believed then there is trouble brewing between director Abhinav Kashyap and film-maker Arbaaz Khan. Kashyap, whose debut film Dabangg was a huge hit, reportedly walked out of the sequel, following which Khan who was the producer of the film, donned the directors hat. Though it is confirmed that Kashyap is no more a part of the sequel, he denies all allegations that relationship between his actor Salman Khan and him have soured.

“Yes it is true that I will not be directing the sequel, but contrary to reports about a fallout, I would like to set the record straight once and for all, all is well between us. May be the way in which I conveyed to him about my decision to not be a part of the sequel upset Arbaaz and I completely understand. I sent him a text message when I think I should have personally met him and conveyed it to him. Naturally, his getting upset was expected and I gave him his time to get over it. They have always been there for me and when good ties end, one of them is bound to get upset. In fact, my not directing the sequel turned out to be a blessing for Arbaaz because he always wanted to get into direction and there would have never been a better opportunity than this,” stated Kashyap emphatically.

Kashyap has now been signed up by a production house to direct a new film which he says will be nothing like what Dabangg was.

“I am surprised when people say Dabangg is an action film. It had action, comedy and a love story all beautifully intertwined. I cannot classify films into any genre because I am a fan of the masala genre. This genre is unique to Indian film-makers and I am proud of that. I am never going to shy away from that and all my films will be entertainers, more than anything else,” he says.

Apparently he has also approached superstar Shah Rukh Khan and has even offered him a role in his next venture. Though he doesn’t deny meeting Shah Rukh Khan, Kashyap states that he hasn’t yet offered the film to anybody.

“I did meet Shah Rukh Khan and it wasn’t a closely guarded secret either. He invited me to his place and he had a few good things to say about the film. We would also like to work together but I haven’t offered the film to him. The script is still being written and it is in a very early stage to offer it to anyone. Besides why would I deny if Shah Rukh Khan actually wanted to do my film? Which director doesn’t want to work with him?”
