I will be shifting by the end of August: Deepika Padukone

Actress Deepika Padukone will be soon shifting to a new pad. And guess what? She is planning to break the mould (of the notion of an out-of-reach Bollywood diva) and reach out to the people living next door.

“I will be moving to a new house by the end of August and I am so looking forward to my new neighborhood. These days, when people don’t have time for their neighbours, I am looking forward to forge a few new bonds (once she shifts into her new home),” says Deepika adding that she was looking for a bigger pad.

The Bollywood beauty says that her reason for moving house is only because she needed a bigger space for herself. “Otherwise I am really happy in the space that I am in right now. I am grateful that I have some great people as my neighbours. The list includes quite a few celebrities as well. Ace photographer Ashok Salian is a neighbour and so is director Kunal Kohli. My neighbours are some of the most wonderful people in the city. The most important part of being in a large city is that you must feel safe and I feel so in my place. I am sure my next home will make me feel just as safe as this one,” she says.

Deepika also says that it is important to keep the sanctity of one’s personal space when you are at home but that should not come at a cost of not knowing who lives next door at all!

“It is very important that you are aware of your personal space and are possessive about it. But that doesn’t mean that you should not even know who stays next door. It’s about reaching out to people who will always be there beside you whenever you are in trouble. When I was in Bangalore, the neighbours used to be like a part of our big, extended family. It would be so good if all neighbourhoods became like that, isn’t it,” she says, before signing off.
