I was never interested in acting: Suhasi Goradia

*Dancer-turned-actor
Besides for her lead role in the serial ‘Ek Chabi Hai Padoss Mein’, Urmi has recently gained a lot of recognition for her simple but beautiful girl-next-door looks and acting skills. Though, the bubbly lass has always been more interested in dancing than acting. Suhasi says, “I am a trained Bharatnatyam dancer. I have been performing since my school days. I was never interested in acting.” However, she did inherit her acting skills from her mother Lata Goradia - who is a well-known Gujarati theatre personality. “My mom encouraged me to take up acting and I think I probably learned the basics of acting from watching her plays,” Urmi explains. “She encouraged me to shoot a portfolio. And after I did that, I bagged my first serial ‘Shakti’.

* Tales of the silver screen
Soon, Suhasi was approached by Star TV and was offered the lead role in ‘Ek Chabi Hai Padoss Mein’ opposite Varun Badola. “My audition for this serial was the shortest and the easiest. A day after the audition, I got a call from the channel informing me that I was selected. I have been very lucky that way.” Similarly, she bagged two ad campaigns for Mangola Slice, and is now looking forward to doing more ads. Why so? Because she thinks she looks more glamorous in ads. “I was shocked when I saw the Mangola Slice ad. You see, my look in the serial is very simple, but when I looked at the ad, I was astonished to see that I looked completely different, a lot more glamorous. I liked that look!” That said, the pretty actor is very clear that there’s a line she will never cross. She will never wear skimpy clothes or accept any kind of obscene, lovemaking scenes on screen.

*Money matters
Life has changed quite a bit after appearing on the silver screen and Suhasi is enjoying it completely. “When I go to malls or theatres people recognise me and I like that. An artist always craves for recognition and appreciation. And if she gets it, she is the happiest.” Apart from the fame, the money is also flowing in, which Suhasi claims is a big responsibility. “I have been earning since my school days. Back then the sum was meagre, but now I actually have to sit with my chartered accountant and plan my investments, tax and other financial matters. It is a big responsibility. Though I am not complaining,” she signs off.
