I want to make a film on dance: Esha Deol

For actor Esha Deol, working on the film directed by her mother, actor Hema Malini has been a learning experience of sorts. For someone with no formal education in filmmaking, being involved in her home production — right from scripting to the post production has been an education.

Says Esha, “I have been involved in almost every aspect of filmmaking in Tell Me O Khuda.  I have learnt a lot and I feel that besides acting, I will also focus on our production house more efficiently as I have hands on experience now."

She wants to don a director's hat soon. “I want to make a film on dance. Dance is something close to our hearts, and has always been an integral part of our lives. In fact, dance has strengthened the bond that mom, Ahana and I share.  So I think a film on dance is surely on my list, but I don't know if it will have me, mom or Ahana in it. Right now, the plan is still in its premature stages.”

Finally, ask Esha what it was like to be directed by her mom, and she says: “On the sets she was nothing like a mom. All I can say is that I had the privilege to work with the strict, yet super talented director Hemaji,” she says. “But as a mom, she is the coolest person ever. She has always been a working mom, but was hands-on with our studies. She was always by our side,” adds the actor.
