‘I want to groom people to become good actors,’ says Ekta Kapoor

Ekta Kapoor is rolling out an ambitious plan this year. She will set up an acting school for prospective TV actors. The school will also impart technical education to people looking at careers beyond acting.

“I want to groom people to become good actors and provide them with specialised and modern technical know-how. I see so many newcomers and most of them have no idea about the craft which they call their passion. I want to hone their talent. That way they will be in a better position to face the brutal competition in the TV industry,” Ekta says.

Her friends from the television industry will be guest lecturers at the school being set up in Mumbai’s suburbs. Actors like Prachi Desai, Sakshi Tanwar, Shweta Tiwari, Ronit Roy, Smriti Irani and Anita Hasanandani among others are expected to deliver lectures.
Apart from this, Ekta is also excited about being honoured with the award for the Most Outstanding Woman Entrepreneur by the Indo-American Society on its golden jubilee. The award will be handed over by the governor of Maharashtra, SC Jamir and his wife Alemla Jamir on January 16 at the Raj Bhavan.

She says, “I have just been doing my job of entertaining people and it feels great that my work is being appreciated.”
