I want to be next to Johnny Depp: Kareena Kapoor

Hollywood may not be on actrress Kareena Kapoor’s radar. By her own admission, the Bolly star is happy ruling the marquee here. But that isn’t putting Hollywood stars off her scanner.

With a few weeks to go for her wax statue being unveiled at Madame Tussauds museum in London, the actress reveals her secret wish.

“I hope they place me next to Johnny Depp. I think he’s one of the most fantastic actors, and he’s hot!” says Bebo. But no, beau actor Saif Ali Khan need not worry at all, as she’s quick to point out that ‘Depp’s actually his favourite too!’ “I’m sure Saif won’t mind it at all,” she smiles.

The waxwork may be viewed as a sign of having arrived, and right at the top too, but Kareena adds that she doesn’t look at it as beating others in some competition.

“The number one tag, or whatever other tags there may be don’t excite me. You know they change every Friday. But others can enjoy them, I’d rather be applauded for my acting alone. I am happy being a ‘tagless’ good actor,” she says.

Never mind that the actor’s also leading in the brand endorsements league, for Kareena what matters is ‘that people find me relatable and can connect to me.’ “I think whether it’s films or brands, I’m in my own league, so where’s the question of competition?”

While she clears the air on competition, what’s the final word on her signing on Madhur Bhandarkar’s Heroine, considering the mounting speculation about it. “Yes, Madhur and I are talking about it. But I’m yet to complete reading the script. I can confirm only after two weeks. But yes, I am keen to work on Heroine and with Madhur,” she sets the record straight.
