I've never been proactive, says actor Sagarika Ghatge

After a long sabbatical, Chak De girl Sagarika Ghatge is all set kick start her Bollywood career again

I've never been proactive, says actor Sagarika Ghatge

It’s nearly been five years since Chak De actor Sagarika Ghatge made her Bollywood dream debut with Shah Rukh Khan. After playing the bubbly Punjabi girl Preeti Sabarwal in the film, the actor didn’t have many roles to boast off post this film.

However, that doesn’t deter her spirits from starting her film career all over again. “I’ve never been proactive about my career. I took my own pace to sign my next film. After having a dream debut, I didn’t want to do a film for the heck of signing one. That’s one of the reasons I was not able to do many films,” says Sagarika who was in the city recently for a fashion event.

She is excited about her upcoming release Miley Na Miley Hum that stars debutant Chirag Paswan and Kangana Ranaut. She says, “It’s Chirag’s film out-and-out, as he’s being launched in Bollywood. It’s a simple love story and I play one of the important roles in the film.”

However, the actor is waiting for her dream project Raftaar 24X7 for release. The 2010 project is incomplete as the director of the film, Shamin Desai died during filming this January. “It is really unfortunate that he died while filming. However, I must say that this is one of my dream projects and the role I am playing in the film is really special. There are a couple of songs that need to be shot, after which the film will release.” The film also stars Emraan Hashmi, Neha Dupia, Sagarika Ghatge and Aditya Pancholi.

Sagarika is now all ready to plunge deeper into Bollywood. “It was a long sabbatical indeed. But, I will take my career seriously now and am looking forward to sign more movies. I don’t have any specifications, I enjoy playing different roles and love to work in different genres as well,” she signs off.
