Sanaya Irani,
Sizzling sidekick

Mumbaiya babe: She was a quintessential collegian from Mumbai before she stepped into the world of modelling. And her very first film has shot her to fame. Sanaya Irani, who played Kajol’s gal-pal/sidekick in ‘Fanaa’, started from scratch when she was 20 with small print campaigns and has managed to be one of the industry’s most talked about faces today. “When I was in college, I had no interest in modelling or acting – I never even participated in a single ramp show. It was my mother who coaxed me to give it a shot, and I love my work now,” says the 23-year-old.

Ad-ing it up: After endorsing a whole lot of brands like Airtel, Reliance, Everyuth, Fairglow, Pepsi and more, Sanaya seems very comfortable with the lifestyle change she has undergone in the past three years. “Being a model and actor does require you to dedicate a lot of time to your work and I’m fine with it. I’ve been in boarding school for seven years and that has made me quite independent,” she adds. However, she is more than sure about creating a substantial niche for herself with acting. “I like doing ads, but I am more focused towards acting.”

Kajol crazy: Ask her about the ‘Fanaa’ experience and she most eagerly blurts out how she has always loved Kajol as an actor. “Kajol has been my favourite since I was very young. Working with her and Aamir in ‘Fanaa’ was a very cool experience,” she says.

Tellywood: Despite the runaway success of ‘Fanaa’, Sanaya seems keener on making her mark in tellyworld. “I do not want to do a movie just for the sake of it. If a good
banner approaches me, I will take it up but not otherwise. I think television would be a better option,” she ends.
