I owe my success to 'Mynaa': Amala Paul

She began her career in the film industry with a barely noticeable film called Veerasekaran. But it was the film Mynaa that turned tables for actress Amala Paul. The actress, who is still basking in the success for her performance in her recent release Deiva Thirumagal, has her hands full of exciting projects this year.

With as many as four films in hand right now, Amala says that she is glad to have realised her dream so quickly. “I am very lucky and thankful for Prabhu Solomon (director of Mynaa) for having given me such a fabulous opportunity. I am careful about the scripts that I choose and am all set to carve a niche for myself,” begins Amala.

She is currently shuffling between projects — Vettai alongside actors Arya, Madhavan and Sameera Reddy, Kadhalil Sodhapuvathu Eppadi opposite Siddharth, Muppozhudhum Un Karpanaigal alongside actor Adharva and Bejawada with Naga Chaitanya.

Of her experience on Vettai, Amala says she got along really well with Sameera who plays her elder sister in the film. “When Sameera and I get together, it’s giggles and girl repartee all the way. The film is set in a village and we had fun going for morning jogs, playing fun games together when we are not shooting. As a matter of fact, Sameera is really like my sister,” reveals Amala.

Currently shooting in Hyderabad for Bejawada with Chaitanya, Amala is excited about the fact that she gets to perform a few stunts as well. However, what really has the actor on a high is the role she is playing in Muppozhudhum. She says, “I would call this my dream role as there is so much to perform. For the first time, I will play a triple role and my look in the film is rather stylish. The entire look of the film is different and I am eagerly awaiting for the release. I can’t wait to see what people will think of it.”

Tasting success at a very early stage in her career, Amala hopes to get the opportunity to play more such challenging roles that would give her a unique identity. “I wouldn’t want to be typecast and so, I am willing to experiment with different characters. I would love to play a role like the one Priyanka Chopra played in Fashion. That is something exciting,” she signs off.
