I miss giving my kids a hug: Madhuri Dixit

Bollywood’s dhak dhak girl is currently in Mumbai for a TV show.

I miss giving my kids a hug: Madhuri Dixit

Known for her million dollar smile, actor Madhuri Dixit has mesmerised many with her impeccable dance moves and power-packed performances. But Dixit’s US-brought up kids grasped the  magnitude of their mother’s Bollywood connection only after they landed on the sets of the dance reality show, Jhalak Dikhla Jaa.

Dixit, now settled in Denver, with her husband Dr. Sriram Nene and two sons Arin, 7, and Rayaan, 5, says she misses her family a lot, “I do talk to them over Facetime, iTalk etc. Though technology has made it somewhat easier, it can never have that personalised touch. I miss him (husband) and I miss giving my kids a hug before going to bed.”

The actor, now back in the industry after a considerable hiatus, is happy judging a reality show at the moment. “They (the show’s producers) have been chasing me for the last two years. Before taking a decision, they asked me to watch Dancing with the Stars in LA. I watched it and it convinced me to be part of the show. So here I am,” she smiles.

Madhuri’s kids were not aware of their mom’s fanfare in India. She says, “My kids are young and not aware of how much I am loved in India.  They do watch Hindi films and have loved Welcome, Munnabhai MBBS, Robot and so on. My elder son Arin used to love singing Himesh Reshammiya’s songs when he was only two. And yes, they love watching my films too.”

So, how does it feel to be considered an icon? “It feels really nice that people love you so much and appreciate your work. It’s always good to get compliments. It makes your face glow,” she says flashing that evergreen smile.

There were reports that she’d be doing Anil Kapoor’s Freaky Friday. “I have seen the film  and don’t think I fit into it well as of now. I am yet to discuss it with Anil (Kapoor),” Madhuri clarifies, adding, “I want to do films, which I feel will be loved by the audience. It has to be either a complete entertainer or a film like Mrityudand, which gives out a strong message. It has to be different and interesting. I have been going through a lot of scripts, but nothing has been finalised as yet,” the actor signs off.
